The video was shot and posted by Facebook user Lynn BoNita.
"An 'unstable' man with an axe uttering threats at pedestrians gets taken down by a female office. She did her job so well," BoNita wrote on her Facebook page after posting the video of the Tuesday arrest.
BoNita said the man stood right beside her and a friend at the bus stop "saying he was going to kill everyone at the mall. Was scary stuff."
Bystanders helped with arrest
The officer is seen talking to the man and she knocks the axe from his hand. There is a brief struggle as the officer attempts to arrest the man.
After the officer gets the man on the ground, the man continues to struggle and bystanders move closer to help, although at least one person kicked the man when he was down.
The video then shows the man man being cuffed and put into a cruiser.
As of Wednesday morning, BoNita's video had been shared more than 1,300 times and has been viewed more than 200,000 times and shared on Facebook, Twitter and Reddit.
